Well the inevitable has finally come. One of the longest transfer sagas in football (3 years to be exact), Francesc Fabregas has, at long last, got his dream to go back to his hometown to play for the club which nurtured this talent. FC Barcelona, arguably the world's best club and currently having one of the best teams in history, are blessed with an amazing youth academy, now called Barcelona Juvenil, thanks to a certain Mr. Johan Cruyff, who resurrected Barcelona as one of the world's best. It has produced three of the world's current best players, Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta, and also has produced Josep Guardiola, a former Barca legend who was, in fact, Cesc Fabregas' idol as a kid. Surely the nostalgia of a beautiful city like Barcelona, and the nostalgia of the feeling of a trophy are the real means behind this move. One of the world's most talented players, surely Cesc could only last so long without a trophy, and with THIS Gunners side, the drought (since 2005) looks set to continue. Barca in the last three years has won 12 trophies, as much as Arsenal have won since it was called the Premier League. Who could blame him, right?
Well, he gets to go back home while Arsenal turn into the Liverpool sans Xabi Alonso. AKA, Present-day Liverpool, where 7th place is an achievement. But, clearly he has one thing to consider. How will he fit into this team on a regular basis? Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets (AKA Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft), are a set, well established midfield which doesn't look set to be displaced. He may have the opportunity to do what he never quite did with the Goners, I mean Gunners.: sitting back on a throne ruling over his fellow bench-warmers, and winning trophies, without much effort. Stark contrast, no?
I, for one, think that he is a talented player (albeit a tad overrated). Good vision, dynamic and can plod forward and score goals as well. I, as a Barca fan, wish him all the best, and I hope his inclusion can make the team even better. We can guarantee a victory in the Copa Del Rey, where he will undisputably start. Regularly in La Liga and in the CL, well, let's just say it's a battle between him and Seydou Keita to become the undisputed backup for that star midfield three for the Blaugrana.
